Speaker bio:
Peter Chu is an entrepreneur, venture capitalist and strategic advisor with experience in leading startup, growth, and public companies. He is currently engaged with a handful of startups and growth companies in the US, Asia and Europe. Additionally, he is an active mentor to Silicon Valley professionals and serves in advisory roles to community groups and local education institutions.
Operating in companies such as BroadVision, Oracle and AsiaTech, Peter became adept at solving complex problems, building teams and processes, and delivering products. Additionally, he has advised startups and multinational corporations on product and market strategy, M&A and investments. Peter feels fortunate to have worked alongside very talented people throughout his journey in Silicon Valley and abroad, and looks forward to meeting many more.
Peter is passionate about building teams and communities to develop and energize people to pursue purposeful work and happy life. Always seeking out teams with purpose, talent and outstanding leadership because that’s where fun and amazing things happen. For his next adventure, he is leading a team to build knowledge networks while advising a couple of other teams in digital transformation, greentech and education.
Peter holds an engineering degree from Stanford University, and it was at Stanford that he discovered his interest in building teams and communities in student and university organizations. He received his MBA degree from Harvard Business School where he was awarded the Dean’s Service Award for leadership and service.
He has been a member of Monte Jade for 30 years and has served as the Chairman of Monte Jade West. 25 years ago, he helped form its young professional chapter, MJAA, and stays actively engaged as board advisor and mentor to the Asian-American professional community. Peter has held leadership roles in Bay Area professional organizations such as HBS Alumni, AAMA and CSPA, and has guest lectured at Stanford and UC Berkeley.
Peter lives in Silicon Valley with his wife and 2 daughters. Peter loves to travel and read, wants to study cognitive science, and enjoys keeping up with friends around the world.
