7/2023 - Southeast Asian Visit

Updated: Nov 1, 2023

Organized by

Global Monte Jade & Monte Jade West

Arriving in the heart of Singapore on July 16th, the vibrant city embraced the Monte Jade delegation warmly. Our gracious host, Singapore Member of Parliament Ms. Foo Mee Har, welcomed us and led us to the historic Singapore Island Country Club for a delightful welcome dinner, marking the beginning of an unforgettable visit to Southeast Asia. Our stay in Singapore was a whirlwind of innovation and inspiring ideas.

We embarked on a journey through the prestigious corridors of intellectual excellence, visiting renowned institutions like the globally acclaimed National University of Singapore, Enterprise, and AI Singapore. During our visit, we gained valuable insights into Singapore's pioneering efforts to democratize AI, leaving us deeply grateful for the meticulous arrangements made by NUS Vice Provost Professor Susanna Leong and the NTU President's office, which filled our hearts with profound appreciation.

Next, we visited NTU's Innovation Centre, NTUitive. It's like the hub of innovation and creativity, right at the university's vibrant core. This is where collaborations soar and the efficiency of university programs and platforms surge.

Furthermore, we had the distinct honor of dining at the Official Singapore Residence of His Excellency Dr. CY Tung from Taiwan. The evening was filled with spirited discussions covering a wide spectrum of topics, including current affairs and the ever-evolving landscape of technology.

The delegation also checked out the actual locations from movie scenes of 'Crazy Rich Asians' as we explored iconic landmarks like the illustrious Raffles Hotel, the awe-inspiring Marina Bay Sands, and the charming Chijmes.

Fast forward to July 20th in Malaysia, where we enjoyed a scrumptious homemade breakfast of Idlis, dal, and special Aceh coffee at Ascott Founder Rafiq Jumabhoy's residence. Conversations flowed like a river, meandering through topics from Argentinian horse racing to the cutting edge of artificial intelligence, to thrilling polo games with Southeast Asian royalty, and even matters on sovereignty. It was a breakfast like no other, enriching our minds and hearts.

Later that evening in Kuala Lumpur, we were honored by the regal presence of Her Royal Highness, Princess Kamariah, the eldest sister of HM Queen Azizah of Malaysia and HM The Sultan of Johor, as our esteemed Guest of Honor. After an exquisite dinner, we gathered with Tan Sri Halim Saad, a legendary corporate titan in Malaysia, for coffee and a friendly exchange.

Our journey didn't stop there; we continued with meetings with two more prominent Malaysian tycoons, Dato Lim Kok Cheong and Dato Foo Wan Kien.

In retrospect, our Monte Jade South East Asian adventure was a whirlwind of discovery, innovation, and unforgettable experiences. As we bid adieu to these incredible destinations and remarkable people, we carry with us the memories of a lifetime and the knowledge that bridges continents and cultures. Until our paths cross again, we cherish the bonds we've forged and the wisdom we've gained. Here's to more adventures and unforgettable moments on the horizon! 🌏🌟🤝
