    Speaker bios

    Sherman Ting, Angel Investor, Sand Hill Angels
    Sherman Ting has over 25 years of experience in enterprise software. He is currently an active investor in start-up ventures.
    Previously, he was founder/CEO of Century A Technologies, a company which established a marketing/sales/support infrastructure in China, for new breeds of internet based enterprise software products designed in US.

    Prior to Century A Technologies, Sherman was a vice president at Oracle, where he founded HP product line division and grew the business into the number one product line with over $300M product license revenue. While at Oracle, he had also started up a second division to spearhead efforts of cultivating business in Asia Pacific, which later became the fastest growing market for Oracle. As a result, Oracle’s Japanese subsidiary had experienced one of the most successful high tech IPOs in Japan. In addition, Sherman was on Oracle CEO’s hand-picked team to start up a network computer business, to revolutionize how people and business use internet.

    Prior to Oracle, Sherman had held engineering positions at Hewlett Packard, on developing relational database systems for HP’s cutting edge RISC computer servers, and at Intel, on developing computer language processors for Intel’s advanced chip architecture.
    Sherman received a master degree in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania.

    Henry Wong - Venture Partner

    Henry H. Wong has been a prolific and successful entrepreneur, executive, and venture investor in Silicon Valley for over 25 years. Henry applies his operational experience, investment talent, and China expertise to advise, invest in, and build high technology companies with a global vision. He is the founder of Diamond TechVentures and was a venture partner at Crystal Ventures, where he was actively involved with companies including SMIC, LGC Wireless, Infinera, and Exavio. As an entrepreneur, Henry has had several significant successes, including SS8 Networks Inc., where he was the founder, CEO and Chairman, as well as IP Communications, XaQti Semiconductor, CNet Technology Inc., and Combinet (ISDN Systems), all of which he co-founded and led. In 2002, Henry was a finalist for the Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year Award.” He is an advisor to several non-profit organizations and is active in community organizations. Henry holds a B.Sc. degree in Business from the University of Utah and a MBA in Telecom Management from Golden Gate University.

    Richard Kadet
    Vice President and Senior CFO Consultant
    Rick is Vice President and Senior CFO Management Consultant with The Brenner Group, Inc., where, since 1998, he has engaged with over 50 valley firms as part-time CFO or financial advisor. Rick works with client firms on executive staff level financial management, financial reporting to boards of directors, financial and business planning, raising venture and debt capital, facilities, business infrastructure, business systems and risk management. He has assisted client firms in raising over $100 million in venture and debt financing, and he has significant expertise in restructuring companies including reorganizations, liquidations, and wind-downs.
    Prior experience to The Brenner Group includes CFO and operational positions at Versant Corporation, a data base software firm for whom Rick managed its 1996 IPO; InfoSpan Corporation, an information management software firm where he was acting CEO for one year, Cadre Technologies, Inc. a software tools company and Sarama Industries, an electrical products manufacturer. Starting his career with General Electric Company, he graduated from GE’s three-year Financial Management Training Program, served as a Traveling Auditor with GE’s Corporate Audit Staff, and as a Controller in GE’s Switchgear Division. Rick is a graduate of Arizona State University.
    Peter Chu
    COO, ApaceWave; Managing Director, AsiaTech Ventures
    Peter Chu is currently the COO at ApaceWave, a leader in the development of baseband processors for the global WiMAX industry. Peter is also a Managing Partner at AsiaTech Ventures, a technology focused trans-Pacific venture capital firm focused on early-stage technology ventures in Greater China and Silicon Valley.

    Prior to his decade of venture capital experience, Peter was a serial entrepreneur. Peter co-founded Channel A, a pioneer in Asian Internet content and commerce start-up and Envive Corporation (sold to Keynote Corp, NASDAQ: KEYN). Prior to Envive, Peter headed up product marketing at Verity Inc (sold to Autonomy Corp). Prior to that, Peter was an early team member at Oracle Corporation in key management roles developing Oracle’s international presence and global systems and networking products.

    Peter holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a MBA from Harvard Business School. Peter is a frequent speaker at local universities and technology and business associations. Peter has served on the boards of Ceiva Logic, SupplyEdge/PCNAlert, StarCite/OnVantage and various other start ups in Silicon Valley and Asia. 
